LYTERA & Triluma
lighten/refresh/plump
Lytera & Triluma are amazing creams that combine specific ingredients that help lighten and even out skin tone and pigment. When used correctly this is one of the only creams I never hear problems about like "it's too rough, it makes me break out, it's too expensive." This guide is going to help you understand what these creams do and how to use them as well as answer some frequently asked questions.
What is Triluma/Lytera used for?
- Both creams are used for lightening hyperpigementation and melasma, otherwise known as sun-spots, and helping reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles. This helps give your skin an overall clean and radiant appearance.
Is it safe?
- Yes, but cannot be used in breast feeding patients or during pregnancy.
How long does the tube last?
- Everyone's needs are different, but the tube when used appropriately (instructions below) should last around 3 months or more.
I've heard people get red and flakey skin?
- Some people will have some mild reaction to the cream, it is important to press on and make it through the beginning of treatment as your skin will adjust and not have the same reaction as time goes on.
How do I use the cream?
- First 2 weeks - use every third night, a dime sized amount in the palm of your hand with some moisturizer, mix it around in your palms and apply to face.
- Second 2 weeks - increase the frequency of application to every other night.
- Third 2 weeks - increase the frequency to 5 nights or more per week.
*Always were a broad spectrum SPF while using these creams as you will be photo-sensitive.
Is there a treatment regimen I should follow?
- Yes, 3 months of Triluma, 2 months of Lytera, 1 month Cream Holiday (stop use usually during summer), 2 months retinoid type product and repeat.
What else do you recommend for skin-care?
- I recommend a topical vitamin C based cream from skinceuticals for adequate hydration ($135), drink 8 glasses of water a day, and consider a micro-needle home device to help stimulate more collagen ($80).
